About the challenge

Welcome to Neural Storm 2026!

48 Hours. 3 Tracks. 15 Challenges. Infinite Possibilities.

Neural Storm 2026 is a 48-hour Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning hackathon that brings together innovators, developers, students, and problem-solvers to transform bold ideas into working solutions.

The mission is simple: Build AI that matters.

From intelligent automation and emerging technologies to environmental sustainability and social impact, Neural Storm challenges participants to apply AI and ML to meaningful real-world problems.

Participants can choose from three official challenge tracks, featuring 15 curated problem statements, or define their own innovative problem within their chosen track.

Explore the Three Challenge Tracks

1. Future Tech — Intelligent Systems & Emerging Technology

Push the boundaries of intelligent automation, computer vision, natural language processing, and next-generation technologies.

2. Green Planet — Sustainability & Environmental Intelligence

Harness AI to tackle environmental challenges, conserve natural resources, and build a more sustainable future.

3. Human Impact — Healthcare, Education & Social Good

Create accessible, responsible, and impactful AI solutions that improve people's lives across healthcare, education, financial inclusion, and citizen services.

The Challenge

You have 48 hours to identify a problem, develop an AI-powered solution, build a functional prototype, and demonstrate its potential impact.

Whether you're training a machine learning model, building an intelligent application, or integrating AI into an innovative system, Neural Storm is your opportunity to turn ideas into reality.

Think boldly. Build intelligently. Make an impact.

Requirements

What to Build

At Neural Storm 2026, participants must develop an AI/ML-powered project under one of the three official challenge tracks.

Choose from the 15 suggested problem statements or propose your own well-defined problem within your selected track.

Track 1: Future Tech

Intelligent Systems & Emerging Technology

  • FT-01: Smart Traffic Signal Optimisation

  • FT-02: Deepfake & Synthetic Media Detection

  • FT-03: Predictive Maintenance for Industry

  • FT-04: Sign Language to Text/Speech Translator

  • FT-05: AI-Powered Automated Code Review

Build intelligent systems that improve automation, security, accessibility, industrial efficiency, and emerging technology applications.

Track 2: Green Planet

Sustainability & Environmental Intelligence

  • GP-01: Air Quality Monitoring & Source Attribution

  • GP-02: AI-Based Precision Irrigation Advisory

  • GP-03: Flood & Drought Early Warning System

  • GP-04: Illegal Deforestation Detection

  • GP-05: Smart Waste Segregation System

Develop AI-powered solutions addressing climate challenges, environmental monitoring, resource conservation, and sustainability.

Track 3: Human Impact

Healthcare, Education & Social Good

  • HI-01: Medical Image Diagnostic Assistant

  • HI-02: Multilingual Citizen Grievance Chatbot

  • HI-03: Adaptive Learning for Students with Disabilities

  • HI-04: Alternative Credit Scoring for the Unbanked

  • HI-05: Mental Health Screening & Crisis Detection

Use AI to create meaningful improvements in healthcare accessibility, inclusive education, financial equity, mental wellness, and public services.

Build Expectations

Your project should:

  • Address a clear problem within your chosen track.

  • Use Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning as a meaningful component.

  • Use Python as the primary programming language for AI/ML components.

  • Demonstrate a working prototype or minimum viable product (MVP).

  • Explain your technical approach and showcase meaningful results.

  • Be developed during the official 48-hour hackathon period.

Important: The 15 problem statements provide starting points, not rigid limitations. Teams are free to narrow, extend, or reinterpret their chosen problem within the selected track.

Focus on building something functional, measurable, and impactful.

What to Submit

Ready to showcase your innovation? Submit your completed Neural Storm 2026 project before the official deadline.

Required Submission

1. Public GitHub Repository

Provide a public GitHub repository containing your complete project source code.

Your repository must include a comprehensive README.md with:

  • Project title and problem statement number

  • Team name and member names

  • Problem description and proposed solution

  • Technology stack and libraries used

  • Setup and installation instructions

  • Instructions for running the project locally

  • Screenshots or a demo GIF of the working project

  • Model accuracy or performance metrics, where applicable

  • Disclosure of any AI development tools used, including ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools

Strongly Recommended

2. Live Deployment Link

Provide a working link to your deployed application, dashboard, or interactive prototype.

A live demonstration helps judges evaluate your solution and is strongly recommended.

You may use platforms such as Streamlit Cloud, Hugging Face Spaces, or Render.

Submission Guidelines
  • Only one submission is permitted per team.

  • Submissions must be completed before November 4, 2026, at 8:00 PM IST.

  • Teams may update their projects and resubmit before the deadline.

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • Projects must follow the official Neural Storm 2026 rules.

Before submitting: Verify that your GitHub repository is public, your README is complete, and your project can be demonstrated successfully.
